“The Mother of All Strikes: The 1824 Textile Worker Turnout”

May 22 – July 31
Slater Mill Factory Floor

The first organized factory strike in the United States occurred in Pawtucket, and was led by women textile workers who were targeted for pay cuts.

This exhibition will be installed on the Slater Mill factory floor  in observance of the 190th anniversary of the event. It will look at the decade of women-led labor actions in New England that followed.  Speaking programs will take place in June of 2014.  The exhibit will be open through July.

Slater Mill tells the story of this turning point in labor history thorough historic interpretation combined with the contemporary works of artist on the New Urban Arts roster.
