An annual Aurea holiday tradition, a delightful reading of this classic holiday story with festive chamber music & poetry, harpsichord, harmonica improvisations & old English carols.
The program opens with works to celebrate the winter solstice and holiday season, including music of Britten, Boyce, Handel, Oberon’s setting of The Oxen, Rebecca Clarke’s Combined Carols, poetry of Andrew Marvel, Mary Oliver, Katherine Mansfield, Longfellow and more.
The presentation features acclaimed actor Malcolm Ingram, his many stage credits include the National Theatre, Globe Theatre, Broadway, Shakespeare & Company as well as numerous regional theaters, film and television. Also reading this classic tale is our own Chris Turner, actor and harmonica virtuoso sharing his unique improvisations of carols. Joining them is returning guest artist, Frederick Jodry, masterful harpsichordist and voice; a scholar of early music, Jodry is choral director at Brown University, director of Schola Cantorum of Boston and music director and organist at First Unitarian Church of Providence.
