Slater Mill’s historic garden, located aside the 1758 Sylvanus Brown House, has been under the care of U.R.I. Master Gardener Volunteers since 2015. Planted with a selection of native plants, typical food source and fiber source plants, and ornamentals reflective of the period, the garden is a source of education and pride at our site.
If you are interested in volunteering your time to work in the garden, please contact us via info (at) slatermill (dot) org, and we will put you in touch with our garden leaders.
Trying to get a foot in the door in the museum field? Here is an opportunity to do so, with an internship at Slater Mill. This can be served in a variety of areas based on our particular needs at the time: tour guide, site maintenance, event set-up and participation, collections inventory, marketing and promotions, etc.
Email info (at) slatermill (dot) org to inquire, and provide information on your experience, availability, and area of interest.
